Homemade ice cream made with Big Red soda.
Best liver and onions on earth. Homelike atmosphere and old fashioned service. Definitely our favorite place to eat in West.
Delicious homemade meals! Friendly ,courteous and fast staff!! Yummy desserts, too.
Loved the place! Combo plate & salad bar, delicious! Oh, and Czech fries - really good. I'll be back to try other menu items on future trips.
Wonderful sauerkraut. Mild, sweet and balanced with the sausage. I loved the Czech fries too
This is a tiny restaurant in what looks like an old drug or general store building in downtown West, Texas. The Sausage with Sauerkraut was good (they said it was really sweet but it really wasn't) and the Cabbage Rolls with "Czech-fries" (sliced potatoes fried with onion) was good, too. Recommended!
Excellant grilled catfish, and veggies. Waitress was very friendly and Attentive.
A must visit when traveling through and you're hungry. Like a museum in there, beautiful, clean friendly. Just like at home. BTW, The doors on top of the rear wall "ask the waitress".
I stopped in on my way to Austin. So glad I did. Was concerned about time, but food and service was immediate. I was in awe on how impressive it was to me. Friendly down home place with awesome real food. Their kraut is a sweet kraut.
Probably the best liver and onions I have ever had. Cant wait till things open back up and I can eat inside and enjoy the hospitality and my favorite liver and onions.
Very good 👍 portions were a little small though
Very delicious down home Czech food. Generous portion.
Drive from Fort Worth to enjoy the delicious sauerkraut and sausage. Service is the best and prices extremely reasonable.
Really good food at reasonable prices!!! I loved it.
Always great! Fresh homemade food like my Czech Granny always made us. The taste takes me back to my childhood.
Amazing little restaurant! Definitely worth a visit. We will be back.
Great tasting and flavorful food. Served promptly
My "Czech in" for lunch....lol. out of the way place that has surprising food. The sausage and kraut, tasty, and the chicken and dumplings very delicious .. I was wanting this kind of food ..and we found it. Definitely worth ur stop. Historical place ....
Fun time visiting with family. Really good food and great service.
Good food and prices, got a bar and draft beer too
Best food in West, Texas and the service was amazing!! Breanna is such a sweet and attentive waitress. Thank you for a great experience!!
Ok so this was a good place the only complaint I really have is nm 8 had to turn the flashlight on my phone on just to read the menu. Its pretty dark here the food was good and I would return I have the sausage and krout special it was really good there krout is more sweet than it is vinegar so that was a pleasant change from the normal
Best place ever. They have the best czech food. The taste is awesome and the services is a 5 ⭐. Thank you so much.
Great hamburgers, large portions, super friendly staff!
Excellent food in an unbelievable old-time atmosphere. The food is made in the kitchen by the staff and is "home-made-heaven" Buy some desert to go or a loaf of their fantastic bread. Must get back there again soon ;)
The food here is great. The menu isn't strictly Czech inspired food. It's closer to home cooking. It's fantastic. The staff is always friendly and happy to make your meal the best experience they can. They also have home baked pies from scratch each day and big red ice cream!!!!!
Czech American is always a good choice for lunch. Even though they were packed, my meal was ready quickly. Delicious and very reasonable prices, no wonder they're always packed!
Friendly service and great food. Home cooked meals and good options.
Down home family eatery specializing in Czech comfort food. Order your dessert first or it probably won't be there by the time you're done with your meal. The dessert moves here! Our table had a bit of everything: cabbage rolls, sausage, potatoes, sweet kraut, and a kid's plate. Everything was absolutely delicious. The cold salad bar was stocked with fresh veggies, pea salad, a shredded brussels sprout salad, and melons. Our waitress was delightful and really made us feel welcome.
Great local place. They have lunch specials that are $4+ off. Food was pretty good with big serving sizes; and prices fair. Service was friendly. Very casual atmosphere.
Great food & super nice staff
My wife grew up on recipes like these at home and we both were so satisfied and happy with our meal. It's "stick to your bones" old world cooking and it was magnificent. Stick to the Czech food even though the American fare was just as good. It's not everyday you come across food like this in the middle of Texas.
Busy, quick to get us in. Very friendly with good food and great pies
A gem! Food is excellent, abundant. Prices are cheap! $5.95 for a full lunch! Service is great, friendly. Gets very crowded during lunchtime. Bathrooms are sparkling clean. Can order food to go over the phone. Very tiny place, service is fast to rush you out the door to make place for other customers. Our always stop when driving from Dallas to Austin or San Antonio.
Awesome down home cooking. Located in downtown West Texas, this cozy restaurant serves home cooked and never frozen food. If it's cold outside I highly suggest the chicken and dumplings.
Delicious food, friendly waitresses, a cool old building with lots of character and good prices make this our favorite Czech restaurant by a LONG SHOT! I had the combo plate with aCabbage roll and Sausage while my wife had the two Cabbage rolls. Both came with a trip to the salad bar, Czech fried potatoes, Sweet Kraut and homemade bread. We're looking forward to the next visit already.
Great food! Daily lunch specials are $5.95. The chicken fried steak was one of the best I have eaten. The sausage sandwich, "Czech fries", and the butter, dill potatoes were great! We will be back.
Food was excellent and priced right. Can't wait to come back!
Enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. My wife had the pork chop while I opted for chicken and dumplings. Both were very good. The service was great. My only issue was the number of chicken bones I found in my chicken and dumplings. It was almost impossible to find them prior to putting a spoonful into my mouth. Now on the positive side this tells me they use bone in chicken to make this dish. I would encourage anyone nearby to give this place a try. It has been around a long time and is full of locals who obviously know they will get a good meal for a very fair price.
A lot of good options while still fitting to your local diner / greasy spoon template. The sausage and kraut are richly spiced, as are the Czech potatoes. Service is fast and polite.
This is a definite stop for people traveling through West. You should sample the Czech food for sure! Delicious!
Food was Great and staff was friendly!
You want to try or renew your love of Czech food? Then this is your place. I especially love the stuffed cabbage and the slightly sweet kraut on the salad bar. Very different and quite wonderful.
The staff was very friendly and it's in such a neat building. The cabbage roll was good, but the sour kraut was way too sweet. I was really looking forward to the pierogies, but they were actually hard. I think they fried them, which gave the dough a really hard shell. Pierogies are supposed to be boiled then pan seared so that was disappointing. The flavor was there, but the execution in cooking it failed. Unfortunately, I could only give a couple stars.
Always great food and service
Loved the coconut merengue pie, Czech beer and big red ice cream. the sausage and sauerkraut were good also.
Awesome! Very popular local restaurant. Great and friendly service. Good place to grab a quick bite and amazing sausage & kraut! 😁
Tried them and enjoyed the sausage & kraut as well as prompt, friendly service. Definitely worth another visit.
Excellent service and excellent food
Almost every time I visit West I visit this restaurant. I enjoy the sausage and kraut with the Czech fries. They always seem to be consistent and create food. I suggest stopping here anytime you go through this town. And have a slice of buttermilk pie.
Stopped for lunch on our way to Ft Worth on a Wednesday in March. A small "mom & pop" cafe reminiscent of other small town Texas cafes. Everything is made from scratch each morning. They use their grandmother's original recipes. They serve lunch specials during the week. They have an extensive dessert menu. We didn't check their menu instead we went with the specials. The dining room was full of dinners enjoying their lunch. My husband and I had roast beef, sweet potatoes and green beans. For dessert, I chose buttermilk pie. Wow, tasted like my grandmother's.If you demand glitz and glamour, this is not your place. However, if you enjoy a warm and friendly place that serves good food at a very reasonable price you will enjoy Czech-American Restaurant.
